After the now inevitable leakage, McLaren has released the first information about the latest addition to the range, 650S. An evolution of the 12C will be available in coupe and Spider, with 650 hp learned from V8 home.
McLaren soon add to its range a third model. So this is mostly a big change of the 12C, which takes its style from the account of the sister P1 technical component has also been enhanced to support a positioning as a separate model for the 12 c which continued its career in parallel. For the moment at least, probably by waiting for the more approachable model promised well in advance.
Taking in all forms of 12C, the 650S is changing the main body parts, except the central cell: shields (front/rear), optical (front), front wings, side air vents … A job that allows it to wear a style more fitting with the P1, but also deserves to improve aerodynamic performance (gain 24% on the supporting forces generated at 240 km/h). In the same spirit, the rear wing spoiler sees its function activated automatically according to the need for support, and only when the pressure on the brake pedal or use the manual control.
At the heart of the carbon cell, the 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo develops 650 hp now, increase of 25 hp compared to the 12C. Moderate gain, but who is associated with a complete work on the calibration of the controlled suspension or gearbox. Detailed performance will be unveiled in Geneva, along with the version of Spider.
On board, the two occupants also benefit from some new, such as carbon tubs option, derived from those of the P1, DAB digital radio, rearview camera or the electrically adjustable steering column.
