How should be a tire in a sports car?
All the power and strength that can develop a sports car hit the asphalt just across the tire, hence the importance of having the right rubber to win in safety, efficiency and, of course, transmit sporting sensations.
The choice of a tire, especially when you are in possession of a sports car, is not a trivial issue. At the end of the day, the tire, with all its particular characteristics, are responsible for transferring engine power to the road. Taking into account that these types of vehicles have such special characteristics, it is vital to have some rubbers that ensure that this higher demand arrives properly to the floor.
And in a sports car, this requirement not only reaches the engine, where the number of power and torque is always superior to other “normal” vehicles: chassis, suspension, brakes and tires have to give the maximum in such extreme situations and different as the circuit and day to day.
The benefits are superior: It expects them to successfully transfer all the torque to the asphalt without hesitation, despite withstanding greater acceleration forces; to rein in the shortest possible distance without losing comfort or stability; that can withstand the lateral forces in curves faster with maximum grip; and which are effective also on wet ground.
Faster, Better Materials
A sports car will always reach higher speeds, so you’ll need a tire with a specific and adequate speed. In this regard, the codes V, W, Y or Z are designed to support data rates ranging from 240 km/h to over 300 km/h. Another common feature of such tires is its profile: a lower figure provides less drift curve and, in turn, will gain in accuracy.
The material to be used seems important, since a tire of these characteristics has to be strong, but at the same time light. In this sense, the competition is very present in the tire supplying brands: for example, the 24 Hours of Le Mans help to create more durable tires; the rallies provide strength and performance; and other contests of circuits for maximum requirement as the formula E or the DTM help to transfer all its construction technology from the tread and casing to the street tires.
The HANKOOK Ventus S1 evo2 arrives at the Audi RS5 Coupe
An example of high performance tire is developed by Hankook, the new Ventus S1 evo2, which comes as original equipment of the Audi RS5 Coupe, a sports one that develops in its latest version of 450 hp power. German car will come standard with the Hankook tire in measure 265/35 R19 98Y, but optionally can choose the 20 – inch with the 275/30 R20 97Y tire.
South Korean tire brand, which already fits other sports brand of Ingolstadt as the Audi Sport TT RS, carried out in the Ventus S1 evo2 its new design philosophy, in which it combines performance and efficiency, durability and comfort at the same time and in all conditions, allowing the RS5 Coupe use from the track to the street in the day to day.
Hankook has experience Ventus S1 evo2 SUV and, at the same time, the competition because it is the only supplier of the German DTM in which also runs the racing version of the Audi RS5. It also incorporates the “sound absorbing” technology, which reduces noise generated by the tire cavity.
