Displayed there is little $40,000 and now $34,185, the Chevrolet Volt is still struggling to find its customers. According to GM, one explanation is that customers willing to put over $30,000 in a compact asking something other than a ‘simple’ Chevrolet.

The official price has fallen; it will be $75,995, excluding federal aid ($7,500). This makes just the most expensive Cadillac. It is thus more expensive than a CTS-V or an Escalade Hybrid. Did GM not force the line? Has ELR indeed the ability to be the flagship for the range that gives it that price? Because it also puts this ELR only $5000 less than the Tesla Model S version with a 85kWh battery…
